I am a Research Associate in
the Income and
Benefits Policy Center of
the The Urban Institute and
currently also a Visiting Assistant Professor
at University of Oregon's
Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management (PPPM). My
research addresses and evaluates public policies such as Social
Security Disability Insurance, Supplement Security Income, and
Unemployment Insurance. Most recently, I have also worked on an early
evaluation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Generally, my main research interest concerns how economic circumstances, income sources, and program characteristics influence effectiveness of programs and policies aimed at improving the health and economic situation of vulnerable population groups such as displaced or disabled workers. I am also interested in technological change and employment prospects of workers, the wage effect of immigration reform, and how family arrangements are affected by unemployment.
